100: 2.1 A Busy Start

A busy start to the year.
Started off almost missing my train because my tickets which usually come up as QR codes on my phone, no longer gave me that option. "Pick up tickets at station" it said on the app. great. Little problem, the 2 ticket machines outside the station were out of order. Had to resort to pleading the station master to let me in with the booking confirmation. Thank God it worked! Funny how little conveniences, when taken away, makes such a huge difference!

Today was a hectic day in Acute Medicine. Not only were we down a registrar, we were also short on other doctors too. Everyone was running around like headless chickens, getting jobs done. There were so many very unwell patients too today - those NEWSing at 9-12!

At times like these, I do miss my stint in geriatrics. In Acute, there isn't a team spirit, I feel like one of the plugs in a sinking ship - often moved to plug in other holes on the vessel. The quick turnaround means less time with patients and the heavy patient burden also means we ourselves are unfortunately less patient with patients. Needless to say it has been a looooong 3 weeks. One day at a time, Ayne. One day at a time.
